I’m not even kidding — this ice cream made my diet so much easier. There were so many moments where I was craving something sweet and creamy, and this was exactly what I needed. It tastes like a real treat, but doesn’t ruin your progress. It’s cold, refreshing, naturally sweet, and actually satisfying, which is something I was really missing before. Ever since I started making this, I don’t feel like I’m “missing out” anymore — it honestly feels like the perfect healthy alternative to regular ice cream.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1 cup nonfat Greek yogurt or skyr
- ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
- ½–1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1–2 teaspoons honey

Step 1: Mix the creamy base
Add the Greek yogurt to a blender or food processor first.
This will be the creamy, high-protein base of the frozen yogurt and helps give the recipe a smooth, ice-cream-like texture.
Then pour in the orange juice, almond milk, vanilla extract, and honey. The honey adds a gentle natural sweetness, while the vanilla makes the flavor softer and more dessert-like. Make sure everything is added before blending so the mixture becomes evenly combined and creamy.

Step 2: Blend until smooth
Blend everything for about 30–60 seconds, or until the mixture looks completely smooth, light, and creamy.
There should be no thick yogurt clumps left. The texture should be pourable but still slightly thick, almost like a smoothie.
Taste the mixture before freezing. If you want it a little sweeter, add a tiny bit more honey and blend again for a few seconds.
The flavor should taste fresh, creamy, sweet, and slightly tangy.

Step 3: Pour into a freezer-safe container
Pour the orange yogurt mixture into a shallow freezer-safe container.
A wide, flat container works best because it helps the frozen yogurt freeze more evenly and makes it easier to scoop later.
Use a spoon or spatula to spread the mixture into an even layer.
This helps prevent large ice crystals and gives the frozen yogurt a smoother consistency.

Step 4: Freeze and stir for a creamy texture
Place the container in the freezer. After about 45–60 minutes, take it out and stir the mixture well with a spoon or fork.
This step is important because it breaks up ice crystals and helps create a softer, creamier frozen yogurt texture.
Put it back in the freezer and repeat this one more time after another 45–60 minutes. This makes the final result much smoother and less icy.

Step 5: Let it soften before serving
Once the frozen yogurt is firm, take it out of the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for about 5–10 minutes before scooping.
This makes it easier to serve and gives it a better creamy texture.
Scoop it into a bowl and enjoy it as a light, refreshing, healthy orange frozen yogurt dessert that feels sweet and satisfying without being heavy.

Why is this ice cream so healthy?
Honestly, what I really notice is how different I feel after eating it compared to regular ice cream. Instead of feeling heavy, sluggish, or like I overdid it, I actually feel light, refreshed, and satisfied. It still tastes creamy and sweet, but it doesn’t sit in my stomach the same way.
For me, the biggest difference is the protein from the Greek yogurt — it keeps me full for much longer and helps prevent cravings later on. I’m not reaching for more snacks right after. At the same time, it’s much lower in fat and calories than traditional ice cream, so I can enjoy it without that guilty feeling.
I also like that the sweetness comes mostly from natural ingredients like orange juice and a little honey, instead of heavy processed sugars. It gives me a slight energy boost without the crash I usually get from sugary desserts.
Overall, it just feels like a dessert that actually works with my body instead of against it — refreshing, satisfying, and something I can enjoy regularly without feeling like I’m messing up my progress.
For me, this ice cream is the perfect mix of creamy and refreshing. It has a light, smooth texture with a natural sweetness, while the orange gives it a slightly tangy, fresh kick that makes it feel almost like a mix between frozen yogurt and a fruity sorbet. It’s not too heavy, not overly sweet—just really balanced and easy to enjoy.
I especially love making it in spring and summer, when I’m craving something cold and refreshing but still want to stay on track. It’s the kind of dessert that feels indulgent, but at the same time clean and light.
If you try it, I’d love to hear what you think! And feel free to send me your own ideas, variations, or suggestions—I’m always open to trying new things and I’d be happy to test and share them in the future.
