The Beetroot Lemon Water I Make for Better Skin

I didn’t expect something this simple to make such a difference, but this drink quickly became part of my daily routine. I was looking for an easy way to stay more hydrated without relying on sugary drinks, and this turned out to be exactly what I needed. It’s fresh, light, and feels really good to drink—especially when you’re trying to take better care of your body without overcomplicating things.

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups water (about 1.5 liters)
  • ½ lemon, sliced
  • ½ small beetroot, thinly sliced (optional, for lighter taste)
  • ½ cucumber, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, sliced
  • 8–10 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 small pinch of salt

Step 1: Prepare the fresh ingredients

Start by washing the lemon, cucumber, beetroot, ginger, and mint leaves very well under cold water.

Since the ingredients will sit directly in the water, it is important that everything is clean and fresh.

Slice the lemon into thin rounds, cut the cucumber into even slices, and slice the beetroot very thinly so it can release its color and nutrients without overpowering the whole drink.

Peel the ginger if you prefer a smoother taste, then slice it into small pieces.

The thinner you cut everything, the better the flavors will infuse into the water.

Step 2: Add everything to a large pitcher

Take a large glass pitcher or bottle and add the sliced lemon, cucumber, beetroot, ginger, fresh mint leaves, and chia seeds.

Try to spread the ingredients evenly instead of placing everything in one spot.

This helps the infused water develop a fresh, balanced flavor.

The cucumber adds a cooling taste, the lemon gives brightness, the ginger adds a light spicy kick, the mint makes it refreshing, and the beetroot gives the drink a beautiful natural color.

Step 3: Pour in the water and add salt

Pour 6 cups of cold water into the pitcher. Then add one small pinch of salt. You only need a tiny amount — it should not taste salty.

The salt helps support hydration and gives the drink a more balanced, refreshing taste, especially if you drink it in the morning or during warm weather.

Stir everything slowly with a long spoon so the chia seeds do not clump together at the bottom.

Step 4: Let the drink infuse

Place the pitcher in the fridge and let the glowing skin water sit for at least 2–4 hours.

For the best flavor, let it infuse overnight. During this time, the lemon, cucumber, ginger, mint, and beetroot slowly release their flavor into the water, while the chia seeds soften and create a light, slightly gel-like texture.

This makes the drink feel more satisfying and gives it that refreshing beauty-water feel.

Step 5: Stir and serve cold

Before drinking, stir the water again because the chia seeds may settle at the bottom.

Pour it into a glass with some of the infused ingredients if you like a beautiful, fresh look.

Serve it cold, preferably with ice cubes. The taste should be fresh, light, slightly citrusy, cooling from the cucumber and mint, with a gentle ginger kick.

It is perfect as a healthy hydration drink, glowing skin water, detox-style drink, or refreshing morning wellness water.

What are the health benefits of this drink?

For me, the biggest difference is how I feel after drinking it compared to a soft drink. Instead of feeling bloated, tired, or still thirsty, I actually feel refreshed, hydrated, and lighter. The combination of water, cucumber, and a pinch of salt really helps with hydration, while lemon and ginger support digestion, so I don’t feel heavy afterward.

I also like that there’s no added sugar, which means no energy crash later. The chia seeds give a small boost of fiber, helping me stay a bit fuller and reducing cravings.

That’s why I’d always choose this over a soda — it’s just as refreshing, but actually makes me feel better instead of worse.

This drink has such a fresh, clean taste that I keep coming back to it. The lemon adds a light citrus note, the cucumber and mint make it really cooling, and the ginger gives it just a subtle kick that keeps it interesting. It’s not overpowering or overly sweet—it just tastes natural, refreshing, and really easy to enjoy.

I love drinking it especially in spring and summer, either in the morning to feel more awake and hydrated or throughout the day when I want something cold and light. It’s also perfect to keep in the fridge and sip on instead of reaching for sugary drinks. That’s what makes it so practical—it fits effortlessly into everyday life and doesn’t take much time to prepare.

I mainly drink it because it helps me stay hydrated, feel less bloated, and avoid unnecessary sugar. It’s a small habit, but it honestly makes a noticeable difference.

If you try it, feel free to share your thoughts or drop your own ideas and variations in the comments—I’d love to test them and create more recipes like this.
