- Black pepper, to taste
For the avocado
- 1 ripe avocado
- ½ teaspoon lemon juice, optional
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
For the roasted vegetables
- 6–8 mushrooms, halved or sliced thickly
- ½ red bell pepper, cut into chunks
- ½ yellow bell pepper, cut into chunks
- ¼ red onion, cut into thick pieces
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon dried herbs, such as oregano or thyme

Preparation
1. Prepare the steak
Take the steak out of the fridge about 20–30 minutes before cooking. This helps it cook more evenly. If the steak is very cold in the middle, the outside can burn before the inside reaches the right temperature.
Pat the steak dry with paper towels. This is important because a dry surface browns much better. If the steak is wet, it will steam instead of sear.
Rub the steak with olive oil, then season both sides with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Press the seasoning gently into the meat so it sticks.
Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot, place the steak in the pan. You should hear a strong sizzling sound immediately. Cook the steak for about 2–4 minutes per side, depending on thickness and how rare you want it.
For a pink, medium-rare center like in the picture, cook it until the outside is dark and browned, but the inside still feels slightly soft when pressed. If you have a meat thermometer, aim for about 54–57°C / 130–135°F.
Add a small piece of butter at the end if you want extra flavor. Let it melt and spoon it over the steak for about 30 seconds.
Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5–8 minutes. Resting is very important because it keeps the juices inside the meat. If you cut it immediately, the juices will run out and the steak will become dry.
After resting, slice the steak against the grain into thick strips.

2. Cook the vegetables
Use the same pan if you want more flavor, because the steak leaves browned bits behind. Add a little more olive oil if the pan is dry.
Add the mushrooms first, because they release water and need more time to brown. Cook them for about 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Do not stir constantly, because the mushrooms need contact with the pan to develop color.
Then add the red bell pepper, yellow bell pepper, and red onion. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried herbs.
Cook everything for another 5–7 minutes, until the vegetables are soft but still slightly firm. The mushrooms should be browned, and the peppers should look glossy and lightly roasted.
Remove the vegetables from the pan and keep them warm.

3. Fry the eggs
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add butter or olive oil.
Crack in the two eggs carefully. Try to keep the yolks whole. Cook them sunny-side up, just like in the picture.
Let the whites slowly set while the yolks stay soft and bright yellow. This usually takes 3–4 minutes. If the whites are still too runny on top, you can cover the pan with a lid for 30–60 seconds.
Season the eggs with salt and black pepper.
For the look in the image, the edges should be slightly crispy and golden, while the yolks remain soft and glossy.

4. Slice the avocado
Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit. Peel off the skin carefully or scoop the avocado out with a spoon.
Place one half of the avocado cut-side down on a cutting board. Slice it very thinly, keeping the shape together. Then gently press or fan the slices out with your fingers or the side of a knife.
Sprinkle with a little lemon juice if you want to prevent browning. Add salt and black pepper on top.

5. Assemble the plate
Use a large round plate.
Place the two fried eggs on the left side of the plate.
Arrange the sliced steak in the center, slightly overlapping each piece. The pink inside should face upward so it looks like the image.
Place the sliced avocado next to the steak, keeping the slices neatly together in a long fan shape.
Add the roasted mushrooms, peppers, and onion on the right side of the plate.
Finish with a little extra black pepper over everything.
The final plate should look colorful, clean, and balanced: eggs on one side, steak in the middle, avocado beside it, and roasted vegetables on the other side.

Before You Start
What I love about this plate is how honest it feels. There are no complicated sauces, no fancy tricks, and no endless ingredient list. It’s simply good food, prepared with care. That’s exactly why every small detail matters.
Before you even turn on the stove, take a moment to prepare everything. Get your vegetables cut, your avocado ready, and your steak out of the fridge. Cooking becomes much more enjoyable when you’re organized and not rushing from one task to the next.
Remember: this meal isn’t about speed. It’s about enjoying the process.
The Secret to a Great Steak
The steak is the heart of this plate, and the biggest mistake people make is being impatient.
When the steak goes into the pan, let it stay there. Don’t constantly flip it, move it, or check underneath every few seconds. Trust the heat and allow a beautiful crust to develop.
That deep golden-brown crust is where an incredible amount of flavor comes from.
And once the steak is cooked, don’t immediately slice into it. This might be the hardest part, but it’s also one of the most important. Letting the steak rest for a few minutes allows all those juices to stay inside the meat instead of running all over the plate.
A rested steak is always a better steak.
Give the Vegetables Time
Vegetables often get treated like an afterthought, but on this plate they’re just as important as everything else.
The mushrooms should become deeply browned and slightly caramelized. The peppers should soften while still keeping a little bite. The onions should become sweet and fragrant.
Don’t rush this stage.
If the vegetables are cooked too quickly, they can become watery and bland. Give them enough time to develop color. Those golden edges and darker spots are exactly what you’re looking for.
Flavor often comes from patience more than from seasoning.
The Beauty of Perfect Eggs
Eggs seem simple, but they’re often overcooked.
Keep the heat moderate and let the whites slowly set while the yolks stay rich and creamy. The goal isn’t just to cook the eggs—it’s to create that moment when you cut into the yolk and it slowly flows across the plate.
That silky yolk brings everything together.
It coats the steak, mixes with the vegetables, and adds a richness that makes every bite feel comforting.
Sometimes the simplest ingredients create the most satisfying results.
Why the Avocado Matters
The avocado isn’t there just because it looks nice.
It plays an important role on the plate.
The steak brings richness. The eggs bring warmth and comfort. The vegetables bring sweetness and texture. The avocado brings freshness and creaminess.
Choose an avocado that’s perfectly ripe. It should feel slightly soft when gently pressed, almost like softened butter.
A little pinch of salt on top can completely transform its flavor.
Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference.
Make the Plate Look Inviting
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that food tastes better when it looks good.
That doesn’t mean you need restaurant-level plating skills.
Simply take a moment to arrange everything with intention.
Lay the steak slices neatly so the juicy center is visible. Fan out the avocado. Give the vegetables their own place on the plate. Position the eggs so they look inviting and ready to be enjoyed.
You’re only spending an extra minute, but it changes the entire experience.
Storage Tips if You Don’t Finish the Whole Plate
If you don’t finish the entire portion, store the steak, eggs, vegetables, and avocado in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator. This helps preserve the texture and flavor of each ingredient.
The steak and vegetables will stay fresh for up to 3 days and can be gently reheated in a pan. The eggs are best enjoyed within 1–2 days. Since avocado browns quickly once cut, it’s best eaten the same day, but a little lemon juice can help keep it fresh for longer.
When you’re ready to enjoy it again, reheat the steak and vegetables slowly and add fresh avocado if possible for the best taste and texture. ✨
Benefits I’ve Personally Noticed
Since eating more meals like this, I feel full for much longer and have more stable energy throughout the day. I don’t get as many cravings for sweets, and I simply feel better when I focus on whole, nourishing foods instead of highly processed meals.
What It Can Do for Your Skin
For me, this way of eating makes my skin look calmer and healthier overall. Because meals like this are rich in protein, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals, they can support healthy skin from the inside out.
Eating less sugar and fewer processed foods may also help reduce breakouts and inflammation for some people.
Final Thoughts
This plate is a great example of how simple, whole foods can be both delicious and nourishing. It’s packed with protein, healthy fats, and nutrients that support your overall health while keeping you satisfied for hours.
Remember, consistency is key. One meal won’t change everything overnight, but small choices made consistently can make a big difference over time.
