At some point during my diet, I just got tired of plain water. I knew I needed to stay hydrated, but drinking the same thing all the time started to feel boring, and I caught myself wanting something with more taste. The problem was, I didn’t want to go back to sugary drinks and make things harder for myself again.
So I started looking for something simple—a drink with real flavor, but without sugar or unnecessary calories. That’s how I ended up with this. It’s fresh, natural, and actually enjoyable to drink, which made it so much easier to stay consistent.
Ingredients:
- 1 liter water
- 1 lemon (sliced)
- 1/2 cucumber (sliced)
- 8–10 fresh mint leaves
- 1–2 tsp freshly grated ginger
- 1 tbsp chia seeds (pre-soaked in water for 10–15 minutes)

Step 1: Prepare everything
Wash the lemon, cucumber, and mint leaves well. Slice the lemon and cucumber into thin pieces so they can release more flavor into the water.
Grate the fresh ginger finely. In a small glass, mix the chia seeds with a little water and let them sit for 10–15 minutes until they become slightly gel-like.

Step 2: Mix the drink
Add the lemon slices, cucumber slices, mint leaves, and grated ginger to a large jug or bottle.
Pour in 1 liter of cold water and stir everything gently. Then add the soaked chia seeds and mix again so they spread evenly throughout the drink.

Step 3: Let it chill and enjoy
Place the drink in the fridge for at least 30–60 minutes. This gives the lemon, cucumber, mint, and ginger enough time to infuse the water.
Serve it cold, preferably with ice, and stir before drinking because the chia seeds may settle at the bottom.

Nutritional Values (approx. per 1 liter)
These are rough estimates for the whole drink:
- Calories: ~60–80 kcal
- Carbohydrates: ~10–12 g
- Sugar: ~3–5 g (naturally from lemon & cucumber)
- Fat: ~3–4 g (mainly from chia seeds)
- Protein: ~1–2 g
- Fiber: ~4–5 g (from chia + lemon)
When should you drink it?
You can drink this at any time during the day, but it works especially well:
I usually make a full bottle and keep it in the fridge, then drink it throughout the day.
I like starting my morning with a glass, and then I come back to it whenever I feel like I need something refreshing or when cravings hit.
It’s simple, but it works really well for me.
How this drink makes me feel
I really enjoy having this drink throughout the day because it makes everything feel a bit lighter and more balanced without trying too hard. Since I started drinking it, I’ve noticed that I stay much more hydrated, simply because it tastes fresh and I actually want to drink it. That alone already makes a difference—my energy feels more stable, and my skin just looks a bit fresher overall.
What I also like is how it helps with those random cravings. Whenever I feel like reaching for something sweet, I’ll have a glass of this instead, and most of the time that feeling just disappears. It’s refreshing, slightly flavorful, and gives me that “reset” feeling without adding anything unnecessary.
The mix of lemon, ginger, and mint also feels really clean and easy on the stomach. Especially after eating, it doesn’t feel heavy—instead it almost feels like it helps everything settle, which I personally really appreciate.
Overall, it’s not about some crazy transformation, but more about how this one simple habit supports a lot of small things at once—better hydration, fewer cravings, and just feeling a bit better throughout the day.
